Only child of Prince Daeron Targaryen, eldest son of King Maekar I, by his wife Kiera of Tyrosh — herself widow of Daeron's cousin Prince Valarr before she was given to him after Valarr's death. Born at King's Landing in 222 AC, the princess was sweet of nature but plain-minded, the simple, as the courtiers came at last to call her. When King Maekar fell to a stone slung from a Peake holdfast in 233 AC and the realm had no living male heir to follow him — for Prince Daeron himself had died of the pox in the same year, and the next prince Aerion Brightflame had been dead a year before — a Great Council was called to settle the throne, and her claim was put before it by the older lords who held a daughter's right above a younger brother's. The lords would not have her; she was set aside that same day for her infirmity, and the throne went past her infant cousin Maegor (Aerion Brightflame's son) and her uncle Maester Aemon of the Citadel both, to her uncle Prince Aegon the youngest of Maekar's sons, who was crowned Aegon V.
