Son and heir of Lord Lyman Lannister and Lady Jocasta of House Tarbeck, born at Casterly Rock late in his father's lordship and raised under the wary eye of King Jaehaerys I. In 80 AC the king's younger daughter Princess Daella Targaryen was put forward as a possible bride for him, but Daella herself disliked Tymond — he was a noted womanizer and overly fond of wine — and the king let her have her choice, which fell upon Lord Rodrik Arryn of the Eyrie. Twenty years later Tymond led three hundred westermen across the realm to the Great Council of 101 AC at Harrenhal, where Jaehaerys had called the lords to settle his royal succession; despite the long memory of his father's slights at court, Tymond and his men voted overwhelmingly for the king's preferred candidate, Prince Viserys, son of Baelon. He is mentioned in the chronicles again in 112 AC when his twin sons Ser Jason and Ser Tyland — both knights of the Rock — were sent to court Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen during a royal progress through the west, a suit that came to nothing.
