Bastard son of Lord Lyman Lannister of Casterly Rock, given the bastard name of the westerlands and raised at the Rock as kin to the heir. When the Faith Militant rose against King Maegor the Cruel in the late 40s AC and the Warrior's Sons of Lannisport made common cause with the Poor Fellows of the realm, Tyler led five hundred westermen out of the port city to join the rebels under Ser Joffrey Doggett — a sortie his father could plausibly deny having ordered. He survived the campaign of ambush and harassment that ended the second half of Maegor's reign, while many of his fellows perished in the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye in 43 AC.
