King of Winter at the height of the Andal invasions and the most famous warrior-king of the Stark line, called the Hungry Wolf for the relentlessness with which he made war. At the Battle of the Weeping Water he and his Bolton allies broke the largest of the Andal hosts under Argos Sevenstar; not content with victory at home, he then raised a fleet, crossed the narrow sea to Andalos itself, and put hundreds of Andals to the sword in revenge. In later wars he conquered the Three Sisters, raided the Fingers, drove the ironborn from Cape Kraken and Bear Island, and slew the Iron King Ravos Hoare in single combat. He smashed a rising in the Rills, gave the Night's Watch aid against wildlings out of the Frostfangs, and is remembered in the crypts of Winterfell by one of its grimmest statues.
