Portrait of Sandor Clegane

Sandor Clegane (The Hound)

Born
270 AC

Younger brother to Gregor and second son of an obscure knightly house sworn to Casterly Rock. At seven years old he was caught playing with one of his brother's wooden knights and had his face pressed into a brazier by Gregor for the offence; the burn-scars and the hatred of fire stayed with him for life. He took no knighthood, scorning the lie of it, served as sworn shield to Prince Joffrey from the boy's earliest years, and won the brawl that closed the Hand's Tourney in 298 AC by saving Loras Tyrell from his own brother's sword. The realm called him the Hound and he answered to nothing finer.
