Led the Bolton levies south under King Robb Stark and survived every battle he fought: at the Green Fork he was beaten by Tywin Lannister with most of his foot, at Harrenhal he installed himself as castellan and let the Brave Companions do his butchery for him, and at Duskendale he sent young Ser Helman Tallhart and the Northern infantry to die under Randyll Tarly without bestirring himself to save them.
Returned north under the cloak of a Lannister pardon, having sold his king to Lord Walder Frey and Lord Tywin Lannister for the lordship of the North; carried the knife that ended Robb Stark at the Red Wedding, and is named Warden of the North by King Tommen for his trouble. Married Walda Frey of the Twins in the same hall where he murdered his liege, choosing the fattest of Lord Walder's offered brides because the dowry was measured in her weight in silver.
