Son and heir to Lord Lyonel the Laughing Storm, wed in 245 AC to Princess Rhaelle Targaryen, the youngest daughter of King Aegon V, as part of the peace-pact that ended his father's rebellion against the Iron Throne. A year later their only son Steffon was born at Storm's End. Ormund inherited the storm coast at some point after his father's death and served his cousin King Jaehaerys II Targaryen as Hand of the King in the last years of that brief reign. When Maelys I Blackfyre at the head of the Band of Nine made their landing on the Stepstones in 260 AC, Lord Ormund commanded the royal host that crossed the narrow sea to break them at the War of the Ninepenny Kings; in the battle in the marshes he was struck down at the front of his own line by Maelys himself, and died in the arms of his fourteen-year-old son and squire Steffon — the boy who would inherit Storm's End and one day father the three brothers through whom the Targaryen blood of Rhaelle ran on into the dynasty that finally cast her own house down.
