Monford Velaryon

Lord of Driftmark and head of House Velaryon at the death of King Robert. When Stannis Baratheon crowned himself on Dragonstone and called his banners against the boy on the Iron Throne, Lord Monford was first to answer, and the Velaryon fleet, Pride of Driftmark and Bold Laughter and Harridan and Seahorse at her head, made the bulk of Stannis's war on the sea. At the Battle of the Blackwater in 299 AC the Pride led the king's column up the Rush and was struck by wildfire that took half her oars and most of her crew; before she sank she ran two ships of King Joffrey's fleet under, and Lord Monford went down with her in the burning waters at the mouth of the river.
