Lord Larys Strong, born with a twisted foot and called Clubfoot for it, was the younger son of Lord Lyonel of Harrenhal and brother to Ser Harwin Breakbones. He came to court in his father's train and took service among the king's confessors, a soft-spoken cripple in a brown robe whose silence was mistaken for meekness until it was too late. When the fire at Harrenhal in 120 AC took his father and brother both, Larys succeeded as Lord of Harrenhal and in time rose to master of whisperers and Lord Confessor under Viserys I, holding both offices yet under Aegon II.

When the Dance of the Dragons came, Larys sat the green council and turned his web upon the blacks while his great-uncle Ser Simon held Harrenhal in his name. He survived the war that ended his house at every other turn, even after Aemond Targaryen put every other Strong at Harrenhal to the sword. But during the Hour of the Wolf, Lord Cregan Stark, Hand to the boy king Aegon III, accused him of having betrayed Aegon II, and gave him the choice of the Wall or the block. The Clubfoot chose the block, and so the line of Lord Lyonel ended in 131 AC.
