Youngest of Lord Tytos Lannister's sons, brother to Tywin, Kevan, Genna, and Tygett, and called the Laughing Lion for the easy wit he wore where his eldest brother wore only iron. Of all the lions of the Rock he alone could make Tyrion laugh aloud, and the boy nephew loved him for it; on a whore of Lannisport he fathered a daughter, Joy Hill, whom he left in his brother Kevan's keeping when he sailed. In 292 AC he took ship at Lannisport aboard his own carrack, the Laughing Lion, bound for the Smoking Sea to recover Brightroar, the Valyrian steel greatsword lost to House Lannister when King Tommen II carried it to doomed Valyria centuries before. He provisioned at Volantis and stood out from the Long Bridge into eastern waters; from that day no word of him or his ship has ever come back. Tywin would not give him up for dead, and so he remained, neither living nor mourned, a missing brother at the Lannister board.
