Elia Sand (Lady Lance)

Fifth daughter of Prince Oberyn Martell, the first he got upon his longtime paramour Ellaria of House Uller, born in 285 AC and named for her aunt Princess Elia of Sunspear whom Oberyn had loved and would not stop avenging until the Mountain crushed his skull in the Red Keep. El her sisters called her, Lady Lance others called her — her own naming for her favored weapon, the long ash lance she took to the saddle of her black filly when she ought to have been taking to a needle in her cousin Arianne's solar. She and her younger sister Obella have worshipped their three elder sisters of an Oldtown whore — Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene — since they could walk, and have been worshipped in turn by their own younger sisters Dorea and Loreza. After her father's death and her mother's confinement she was put with the younger Snakes at the Water Gardens by Prince Doran's order, where she made of the pools the same terror she had made of every yard in Sunspear. In her fourteenth year she rode with Princess Arianne to the rendezvous at the Tor with Lord Jon Connington's heir, raced her cousin and Lady Valena Toland to Ghost Hill on the road, and flirted with the ship-knights so badly Arianne put her below decks before they were two days at sea — Lady Lance she might be, her cousin told her, but no lady.
