A small, tender, tongue-tied daughter of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, who read only haltingly, could not memorize the simplest prayers, and was frightened of gardens, bees, and cats; her mother called her my little flower, and she clung to Queen Alysanne and to her septa-sister Princess Maegelle as her guiding star. The match her parents had intended with Prince Vaegon foundered on his open contempt, and a procession of suitors followed without success: a visit to Driftmark left her seasick and convinced Corlys Velaryon loved his ships better than her, and a betrothal to Royce Blackwood collapsed when she learned she would be wed before a weirwood. On the first day of 80 AC, Jaehaerys gave Alysanne the year to see her wed or send her to the silent sisters; offered Lord Boremund Baratheon, Ser Tymond Lannister, and Lord Rodrik Arryn, Daella chose Rodrik because he seemed good and wise, like Father, and they were married in a small ceremony in the sept on Dragonstone, with no bedding, for she could not bear the shame of it. At the Eyrie Lord Rodrik called her my precious princess and pampered her, and her letters home (taken down by his daughter Amanda) spoke of how happy she was. She wrote to her mother in her own hand in 82 AC to confess her pregnancy and beg her to come, and Alysanne flew to her on Silverwing and stayed; Daella went into labor a fortnight early, bore a healthy daughter (the future Queen Aemma Arryn), took childbed fever, and died at eighteen, whereupon Alysanne refused Rodrik leave to bury her in the Vale, had her burnt instead, and laid her ashes on Dragonstone beside her sister Princess Daenerys, the first crack in the long marriage of Jaehaerys and his queen.
