A knight of the red-apple Fossoways of Cider Hall in the early years of the War of the Five Kings. He raised the apple of Cider Hall for Renly Baratheon when the would-be king set up his court at Bitterbridge in 299 AC, and after Renly's murder at Storm's End he turned with most of the red-apple line to King Stannis. He marched with the Florent host across Tarth and up to the kingsroad and was cut down upon the Blackwater in the great red press at the city gates, where the freerider Lothor Brune cut through half a hundred Fossoway men-at-arms — Bryan Fossoway and Ser Edwyd Fossoway among them — to win the byname Lothor Apple-Eater and a knighthood from the Iron Throne.
