Legendary founder of House Stark and first King of Winter, who lived in the dim depths of the Age of Heroes when the First Men still kept the old gods alone. The singers and the maesters alike credit him with the raising of Winterfell upon the hot springs of the north, with the laying of the foundations of the Wall in league with the giants and the children of the forest, and (in fragments preserved at the Citadel) with a hand in the building of Storm's End and the first Hightower of Oldtown. How much of this is true, how much was the work of later Brandons confused with him, and how much is pure legend, no maester now living can say with certainty; but the line he founded would rule the north for some eight thousand years.
