Successor of Torrhen the King Who Knelt at Winterfell, and the first Stark to inherit his seat from a Stark who had been a Lord, not a King. The chronicles do not say with certainty whether Brandon was Torrhen's son, brother, or cousin; only that he was the second Lord of Winterfell of the new realm. The byname the singers gave him outlived any account of his deeds.
