The oldest of Lord Rogar Baratheon's four younger brothers, born at Storm's End in the early reign of King Aenys I and embittered in his manhood by the long shadow of his elder. He fell out with Rogar over the matter of the king and his sister-good mother, the Dowager Queen Alyssa Velaryon, and quitted the storm coast in disgust to take service in the Free Cities. When word reached him in exile that a new Vulture King had raised the dragon-banner over a Dornish rebel host in the Red Mountains, Ser Borys returned to Westeros, slipped across the marches, and put his name and his knowledge of every defile of the storm lands at the rebels' service; under his guidance the Vulture King's raids fell with greater cunning upon the stormlords' fields and villages for the better part of a year. In 61 AC his elder brother Lord Rogar and the king himself brought a host into the Red Mountains in the Third Dornish War and ran the rebel band to ground; Borys was cornered, and would have died upon his brother's sword, but King Jaehaerys I forbade Rogar to make himself a kinslayer and took up the work instead — Borys threw himself at the king and was slain on the spot with a single stroke of Blackfyre, the Valyrian sword of Aegon the Conqueror.
