Alester Florent

Lord of Brightwater Keep and head of House Florent in the last years of the Targaryen peace, uncle to Queen Selyse and good-father to Lord Randyll Tarly. When King Stannis claimed the Iron Throne, Lord Alester gave him Brightwater's full strength and was named Hand of the King after old Maester Cressen's death. He sailed with the king to the Blackwater and saw his son Ser Imry burn upon the river with the royal fleet. Despairing of his liege's ruined cause, he opened a quiet correspondence with Lord Tywin and Lord Mace, offering Princess Shireen as bride to Tommen Baratheon in exchange for terms. Stannis named it treason and gave him to Melisandre's pyre on Dragonstone. King Tommen, in due course, stripped his house of Brightwater Keep and granted it to Ser Garlan Tyrell.
