Portrait of Aegon Blackfyre

Aegon Blackfyre

Born
184 AC
Died
196 AC (aged 12)

First-born of Daemon I Blackfyre and Rohanne of Tyrosh, and twin to his brother Aemon by minutes, born in 184 AC and reckoned his father's heir to a throne his father did not have. He and Aemon were a matched pair of bullies who took their sport in tormenting their small brother Daemon and his friend Alyn Cockshaw, until small Daemon dreamt their deaths and woke screaming and the twins laughed at him for it. They were twelve years old in 196 AC, both serving as squires to their father, when the host of the black dragon met the host of King Daeron II Targaryen on the Redgrass Field. Ser Brynden Rivers, the king's half-brother, gained the heights of Weeping Ridge with his Raven's Teeth and saw Daemon's royal standard three hundred yards below; knowing the father would not leave the son while warmth lingered in him, he put the first of his arrows into Aegon, and Daemon stayed by his fallen heir as the white shafts came down upon them like rain. So the elder of the twins was the first of his line to die, and his father and his brother followed him into the rain.
